Bill Ward `acting` for a First Aid Competition at Oldham.

Below are Pictures I took on some of the walks Bill Ward and Myself venture out on to gain experience for our authorizations for Scouting. (well we enjoy it any way, but sometimes we need an excuse!) and also to find places of interest to take the Cubs and Scouts.Click on the blue text to download them into your screen. All the files are clean and only taken and set up by myself, I download them all to myself to check them and they all work!

The first is on the edges at Saddleworth, overlooking Dovestone, Yeoman and Greenfield reservoirs the `Mini Lake District` of Oldham!.The Trinacle, left, and myself on it! right. Me on the Trinacle.

The next pictures were taken in July 98, on an outing to climb Snowdon up the Snowdon Ranger path and return down the Rhyd-Ddu path. we were going to take in Crib-Goch, which is a Knife edge ridge but with howling gales and driving rain we decided to give it a miss! Just to prove that we don`t just go out in good weather, this is me on the flanks of Snowdon in the pouring rain! Yes, that is rain, and not a waterfall! We also had winds up to 75 MPH! The cafe at the top was most welcome! all good experience! YEHH! The rain in Spain Snowdon etc.

This is all we could see of Snowdon Summit! Snowdon (well a third of it!) in the cloud. We were glad actually! if we had seen the top we probably would not have gone!

These were taken at Ullswater in the Lake District, what a days walking that was! 4 of us set out from Prestwich at 5AM and started walking at 6.30. We walked the length of the lake and took in Arthurs Pike with some of the most beutifull views you will ever see. The weather was very kind to us and I managed to get some good views of The Dodds across Ullswater, looking down on Howtown Wyke from Bonscale Pike gives you some idea of the height we had to gain.It realy was a day to remember!

More pictures from our walking to gain experience, this time from a 22 mile walk along the River Tees starting at Middleton-on-Tees in County Durham. As you can see from most of my pics I have a passion for waterfalls and I make no apologies for this as most people I know have a liking for them. Sunrise This was taken at the (early) start of the walk, Middleton is in the background. Tree Troll an unusall photo, I spotted this by chance as I turned to look at a bird flying past! The Tees Bill Ward again, by the path fence next to the River Tees. Low Force This shows the two elements of Low Force. Bleabeck Force, Another of the Becks flowing into the Tees, this one was so cold there was ice on the rocks at the side of the fall! High Force and The proof that we were there! We thought that this was the most spectacular fall on the walk, and it was! untill we saw Couldron Snout with Bill standing next to it you can see how high it falls! over 100 ft of boiling water! Brilliant stuff!.This Robin joined us for our tea break and shared a Mars Bar!. Hope you enjoy the pics as much as we enjoyed taking them on the walk.

The next pictures were taken at our annual Cub Camp at the Scout Camp at Bowley, Gt. Harwood, near Blackburn, Lancs. The area around the Camp, and, in particular, Whalley, provides some good walking, especially if you go to the Abbey Tea Rooms to sample the home made food on offer ( is that an advert?) well they deserve one! try it! We were there on the last weekend in July, the 8th St. Margarets Cubs and Leaders that is! Outside the Den The Den at the camp and some of our Leaders and Parents enjoying the sun! More pics of camp to come soon.

Photo`s of our walk around Kentmere and High Street to appear here soon. Here`s 4 to start with, Nan Beild Pass first climb (of many!)Ill Bell Summit with all of us posing! One of the views from Kidsty Pike And this was the way back over Froswick and Ill Bell
